Are they any know Star Maps like Stellarrium that are known to work well on Mint ?

Stellarium I think is not that well behave on Linux yet.

Any thoughts anyone ?

I have no problem with Stellarium but have you looked at Kstars?

Stellarium works well for me and has since Mint 8. Your post is the first time I have heard anyone mention problems with Stellarium. Maybe you are thinking of Celestia, which can be difficult to use in Linux

It wasn't Mint I used Stellarium, but something was very wrong with it.

When I can dedicate a seperate hard disc to it, I'll try Stellarium again.

KStars looks exactly the level I need with a really useful Handbook !
