Daryna detects floppy drive when none exists solved

Postby leechy9 on Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:18 pm

Im not sure if this is the right forum seeing as this is a hardware and software issue. sorry if im not in the right location

well im on Daryna, and i have never even plugged in a floppy drive on this computer, but daryna believes that i have one. it also says that the floppy drive has 166.8 gigs left on it (which is the same amount i have left on my hard drive also) i believe that daryna is thinking my harddrive is a floppy drive as well. im using a 200gb maxtor drive, (only about 3-4 years old) and a gigabyte board. the board does not detect a floppy drive and it is set not to allow one either. if u could tell me of someway to remove the drive without harming my hard drive i would really appreciate it.

i also tried deleting the floppy drive, it just says 'Error "Operation not permitted" while deleting "computer://...5201.drive" and it gives me cancel and retry options.

Post the content of /etc/fstab and /etc/mtab
Also do you use some USB or other external drive?

/etc/fstab and /etc/mtab

These are not directories but files, and if they did not exist your computer would not boot anything but recovery mode...
(mtab is generated at boot)

well i looked it up and i found out some of the problems that might cause it. but none of them solved it, so i went into fstab and just removed the line of code for a floppy drive, so i solved the problem. thanks for the help
