SOLVED - Thunderbird - copying everything from prev install

Postby blues-guy on Wed Jan 30, 2008 2:11 am

How do I "move" my profile, mailboxes and mail from my previous ( Mint Gnome 4) installation to my new Mint KDE 4.044 beta installation.

I've checked the Mozilla site and installed MboxImport.xpi script but it doesn't work as the file mgr that opens when I try to import doesnt show "hidden" files ie /.mozillz-thunderbird

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I have moved TB in full from XP to ubuntu to mint and back again by simply ctrl-h in /home and copying everything in the .mozilla-thunderbird/3iewge.default (or whatever) folder and pasting it into the new .mozilla-thunderbird/*****.default/ folder.

You need to open up thunderbird first so it creates the new hidden dir. Close it and delete it's contents and paste your old ones. This is an easy one.

Just re-read. You don't need to play with imports and exports. That one directory has all you mail, server settings, and passwords in it. Just cut and paste

Thanks melbo - worked first time - so much for everything I found by "googling", none of which worked including method on Mozilla site
