Daryna & Konversation

Postby The Doctor on Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:19 pm

Is there a way to get Konversation working in Daryna. I tried downloading and installing from source, but I got an error code that said it could not find X and I needed to create a path. I am a G-nuB. What does this mean? Is there a way. I really like the options in Konversation, like turning off join/part, especially on the Ubuntu forum. Also, i like the other options.

you dont have to compile really.
in your menu go to the one that says "package manager" and click on it.
This is synaptic package manager, a versatile application installer.
after you type in your password and once the app is loaded go to search and click on it
and then search for konversation.
once it locates the package either right or left click on the little box next to the one that says "konversation"
and select "mark for installation"
now it may ask you to install more packages, but dont worry, just click the "ok" button and then after that go to the "apply" button and click on it
again click on apply and konversation will soon be installed :D
Here is more information:
http://monkeyblog.org/ubuntu/installing/
This guide will teach you how to install practically anything on your system, now the guide is called "how to install anything in ubuntu" but Mint is based on ubuntu so most of the instructions here can be applied.
the major difference is the linux mint software portal that is almost like a click and run installer, there are quite a bit of applications listed though konversation isnt one of them yet.

I could not find Konversation in the Package Manger. I Think they stopped updating it waiting for KDE $. It won't install on the newest Ubuntu. I think the last one was Edgey. That is why I have to compile from source.

err no...
I have no idea why its not showing up for you as it shows up for me...
Here try this:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/kde/konversation

just download the package for your arhcitecture, it should work without any extra packages as mint has some kde stuff in it

I found out in the IRC. For some reason, most of my sources were disabled.

Yep. I like it because when I am on the Ubuntu forums, I can eliminate join/part messages.
