Similar app to AutoHotkey ?
Just started using Mint (and linux) yesterday. I am VERY impressed with Mint and also with some of the apps that come with it . Some like the note app Tomboy I never came across an equivalent as cool for windows. To get to the point - on windows I tried several macro recording apps which were fine but then I found AutoHotkey which is much better than just a macro recorder it's great for writing simple or complicated scripts and linking them to keyboard presses and also you can make gui's easily. Is there anything like it for Linux?

Re: Similar app to AutoHotkey ?
I'm not familiar with this app, but alternativeto.net has three alternatives you may want to look at: http://alternativeto.net/software/autoh ... form=linux
Re: Similar app to AutoHotkey ?
Thanks there was an app there called Autokey which is like a cut down version - not nearly as powerful but good to have. AutoHotkey itself is superpowerful you can see what it's capable of by looking at the hundreds or scripts/programs written with it at the excellent forum http://www.autohotkey.com/forum

IronAHK can use AutoHotKey scripts: http://www.ironahk.net/docs/autohotkey/. But last release is from late 2010, so perhaps the project is not very much active anymore?
I'm not familiar with other GUI automation tools (eh, I've always gotten around using shell scripts to automate my tasks )

Yes it's a pity Iron AHk never got far - I think it was too ambitous? They were trying to make a version for all platforms in one. As there is already 3 good versions of it for windows they should have stuck with just making a version that would work on LInux.
