Thanks Husse. I think you are correct, in that Orage is XFCE specific. This is unfortunate as I don't really want to change from Gnome, 'cos I have grown used to it!
Thank you also for pointing me to the post by scorpio. Went there and had a read and found that orage resides in /usr/bin but that really didn't help much

Strangley, when I then typed orage in a terminal I got a message that icon was too small and the default icon was being used. But nothing else happened, not even the capsule size icon.
Ah well! I'll have to stick with Kontact in the interim.
<Thinks> I may have a search around for the email address of the developer(s) and drop them a request to consider making it compatible with Gnome.
