Orage - Xfce calendar ...

I currently use Kontact (Addressbook and Calendar) and have tried Evolution but didn't like it. Saw Orage and downloaded it from the CD, together with the dependencies, but when launched it just puts an icon, which looks like an elongated pill on the desktop - and that's it!

Can anyone tell me how to get this working?

Regards from New Zealand on a very warm and wet Tuesday morning.

Well it's been warm (to be winter) and wet here too...
Anyway Orage is probably xfce specific so meybe you need to run xfce
There is a wonderful post by scorp123 about searching for installed apps
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... install%2A
(note I didn't expect you to find it :))
Use the post (should work well in XFCE) and you hopefully find Orage

Off topic, as I use Google Calendar, but I just installed Xfce in my regular Mint partition, tweaked it a bit, and it is quite enjoyable !

Thanks Husse. I think you are correct, in that Orage is XFCE specific. This is unfortunate as I don't really want to change from Gnome, 'cos I have grown used to it!

Thank you also for pointing me to the post by scorpio. Went there and had a read and found that orage resides in /usr/bin but that really didn't help much :-( Strangley, when I then typed orage in a terminal I got a message that icon was too small and the default icon was being used. But nothing else happened, not even the capsule size icon.

Ah well! I'll have to stick with Kontact in the interim.

<Thinks> I may have a search around for the email address of the developer(s) and drop them a request to consider making it compatible with Gnome.

Regards

tenfoot.

The new version 4.5 can be used in Gnome.
This new version is available now in Debian so maybe it works with Mint also?
