Re Financial programs, Ace money. This was always the fly in the ointment for both Linux and Mac. Have run Ace money in wine in Mac but a bit grim, very 1980 s look and feel. Well changed over to Mint completely last week and think I have tried all the finance apps and settled on Grisbi in the end as the nearest to Ace money excepting looking ahead to how broke I will be come next week when all the direct debits have gone out, Ace lists them greyed out when not due on the same page and gives running balance look ahead. Mind could never find a window program that did this either. Grisbi you have to enter them ahead to see future balance but it works, no instructions in English but t's quite easy to get to grips with.
