Bandwidth tool and printer driver(!)

Post by folders123 »

Hi all,

I have finally made the move from Microscum to the wonderful world of Linux, in particular the lovely Mint flavor! :D Now that I have made the move I have certain questions I like answers to, if you don't mind answering please.

Firstly, I am in the UK and have Pipex broadband with a cap of 15Gb of bandwidth and I would a way of monitoring my Internet usage. Any suggestion would be welcome if at all possible please.

My other question is that I have a Dell 1710n printer and I need to connect this to Mint(y!) using USB connectivity. Any help would be great.

Many thanks in advance,

Your printer should just work
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cg ... =Dell-1710
I don't know if these monitors cover your needs

Are you limited to 15 Gb (or GB) per day, or week?

Dear All,

Thank you Husse for the help with the printer issue but I am have difficulty with the bandwidth monitor. All I want it to do is to monitor my Internet connection similar to Netmeter http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/index.php but for Linux. So please if you can recommend one that would be great.

Many Thanks

Well half a solution at least
Right click the panel > Add to panel > Network monitor
It is reset when you close the panel. There is actually a version of Netmeter for Linux but not as a .deb
and the download link did not work....

Thank you for your help and time Husse. That will provide some answers. If you manage to come up with any other solutions that will be great but I don't feel you have to.

Many thanks once again.
