Amarok daap sharing

ive never got this working on Ubuntu mint in amarok, always with no problems on rhythmbox and occasionally on banshee.

so far ive activated the avahi daemon in /etc/default/avahi-daemon and added music sharing as a media device, sometimes in media devices ip addresses of my friends computers come up in sharing and sometimes they dont, when they do come up if i try and open them the icon spins for ages and does nothing.

in rhythmbox their list is up in a few seconds, has anyone had any luck in getting this to work??
