Changing the window theme

Postby Mindfilled on Wed Feb 22, 2012 9:15 pm

Linux Mint 12 x64 Gnome

U~Dual core AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (-MCP-) clocked at 1000.000 Mhz Kernel~3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 Up~8 min Mem~568.2/3959.7MB HDD~750.2GB(25.0% used) Procs~130 Client~Shell inxi~1.7.7

I've been curious about exploring the theme tweaking option, but it's a bit of a hassle.

Example:
Menu>Advanced Settings>Theme
There are plenty of window themes available, but the only way to see what they look like is to reboot the PC.

Is there a way to see the results of my choice without rebooting?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

When I was using Gnome Shell with Mint 12 I redrew the shell when trying out new settings by pressing alt+f2 and then entering 'r' at the command prompt and pressing return. This also works with Cinnamon so I imagine it will refresh your desktop.

That's O.K. if you like the bog standard themes. I found most of them too dark & was able to change them in LM10 to my colours. Is that possible now & how?
