Hello,
I'm still new to Linux Mint 12 and I'm absolutely impressed of how much better my laptop start working in comparisson to Windows 7. About a month ago I decided to intall Mint 12 x64 Main edition on my Dell Inspiron 1520 because of the many blue screen errors I was getting all the time in Windows 7 even after the reinstalls i did. After the Mint install I just had to sort out my wireless connection with 2 easy terminal commands I found in this forum and everything woked perfectly fine. No more blue screens, no unexpected restarts, just the best experiance I've had with this laptop since i'm using it.
However, in the last few days something happen to my sound if i'm right it happen after some firefox updates but thats just a guess. Firstly, log in and skype notification sounds disappeared few weeks ago but all other sounds worked fine, few days after my online video sounds start dissapearing occasionally and finally, in the last few days all my sounds, including banshee and other player sounds dissapeared as well. I read tens of topics and tried reinstalling alsa and pulse audio, checked the alsamixer volume controls, even edited some alsa file configurations but still no sound. Although, after some changes which i don't even remember i managed to get some sound trough my headphones but it is extremely low even when all volume settings are on the max.
My problem is that i did too many changes trying to solve this issues and nothing really helped, therefore all I want is somehow to return all settings to default as they were after the Mint 12 install. Reinstalling alsa and pulse audio i think doesn't returned my audio settings to default as the issue is not yet fixed, but as I had all my sounds working perfectly fine in the beggining I think if I manage to delete all drivers, codecs, packages etc and install them again my sound settings must return to their initial configuration and the issue will perhaps get fixed. Can anyone please therefore write me the commands in terminal that i need to completely remove all the packages, drivers, codecks related to the sound and audio settings and then install them again in order to return my initial configuration.
Many thanks!
