.pls files at firefox and vlc

I want to change something that maybe is very simple, but I can't find how to fix it. When I'm clicking to listen to a web radio station that has a .pls link, it opens at a new tab with a built in (?) player that buffers till 19% and never begins to play the radio stream. When I am pasting that link to VLC, it plays it without any problems. How can I set firefox to open .pls files directly with vlc without opening that tab ?

OK, I've found the solution. Firefox preferences->Applications-> choose from the list "MP3 Shoutcast Playlist" and choose VLC as the default to open it
