wmv playback

Postby nomko on Thu Jul 26, 2012 2:53 pm

Hi,

I have downloaded a movie which is in the .wmv file format. But when i play it with Vlc or Totem it is real sluggish. The screen is pixelated now and then. Is it normal that .wmv files will be played sluggish and pixelated? Is there any solution? Has it something to do with missing codecs?
Any help/reply will be very much appreciated!

You may have a corrupted file, a bad download, or it may be trying to install malware for Windows which doesn't work really well under Linux.

No, it is not normal. Have you tried using VLC or ffmpeg to translate the .wmv file to another format?
