Hello,
I have an Acer Aspire 5532 with ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics. I'm using the manufacturer's driver and installer. The repositories have not installed--but almost install, as a tease for close to two years, on both Ubuntu and linuxmint.
This driver works great though. On Ubuntu I had no trouble with DVDs or video files. However I was never able to get Webgl to work on Ubuntu; and on Linuxmint, for the first time, it works with full 3d acceleration! yay!
There's only one big but: I don't think I've ever successfully played video in any of the players (web video on all sites works fine!). If I put in a DVD or open a file (there may be some formats that work, however I don't want to crash my system for hours to find out), so far .avi, .mov, the screen goes black. The mouse cursor remains--stretching (or flattening) about 20% horizontally in resolution, and then I'm back to the login screen. 'all previous state lost.
