Sound card not detected automatically

Hello, I've been having problems with sound today after trying to remove pulseaudio. Everything is working with the exception of one thing. I can only get my sound card to be detected when using modprobe

sudo modprobe snd-hda-indel

I want my card to be detected automatically. How can I do this? I had to come here because I don't know how to even google this at this point. What are the configuration files? Where are they? What do I add to them?

Just to clarify, the only issue I'm having is that my sound card is not detected automatically. Excuse me if I sound like I have no idea what I'm doing-- I don't. I haven't dealt with many problems with sound drivers before.
