Anyone here a libav user?

Postby GreenAce92 on Sun Oct 14, 2012 1:27 am

Well, to put it bluntly, I have no idea what I'm doing.

All I wanted to do was to convert a .MTS file to a .AVI file for my weak computer to edit the footage

I was using winFF when I had linux mint 11 but then after installing linux mint 13 cinnamon well... this terminal message comes up saying "winff is deprecated" use AVConv instead... well I happily oblige and I am now here... I have no idea how to use it.

I have so far figured out that it operates in the terminal
I can't even "choose" the file that I want to use

Why doesn't something like cd /home/trial work in the terminal that is, why can't I change my directory to the trial folder which would have my video footage?

Thanks for any help, I hope this "other topics" is equivalent to "off topic"
I don't understand the mailing list concept either hence I posted here

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
