Sound doesn't work

Hello im brand new user of linux. my laptop is running on Linux 13 mint Maya . I installed linux on my laptop 3 days ago, everything worked fine.. but this morning i started my laptop and there was no sound, i turned up volume to max on every option available.. tried with headphones and laptop speakers but nothing.. How do i fix this?
