Default sound device not recognized correctly

Greets to everyone.
I've got the following problem.
I have USB headphones and a standard soundcard in my PC. So there are two sound devices. In Ubuntu it was enough just to click at necessary sound device to make it work after each reboot. Here in Mint when I open mate-volume-control or pavucontrol and select my PC soundcard and reboot, it makes HDMI out default, but even when I switch off HDMI out and reboot I cannot control the sound level of my soundcard from GUI (or keyboard) - it just keeps one level and doesn't react on increasing/decreasing volume - till I go to pavucontrol or something and set it by default again. So it doesn't automatically switch to default sound device.
Thanks in advance for help
