Current status of Moonlight/Silverlight?

Post by rlindsey0 »

I'm a big NBA fan, so I like to visit nba.com occasionally. However, many of their videos appear to be in the Silverlight format, which Linux Mint (and probably most or all other Linux distros?) can't play. My understanding is that Moonlight is a Novell-backed initiative to make an open source version of Silverlight. But I can't seem to find any specifics on when it will be available and where. For instance, will it only be available for openSUSE, or will it show up in the Ubuntu/Mint repositories?

I mean, I can certainly live without it, but it would be nice to have it. Anybody hear anything?

I read they will have packages for all the main distro.
I have installed it on hardy and it does work.(after a lot of compiling)
The only thing is that the firefox plugin doesn't work on all sites.
It also caused a lot of crashes on sites it was seen.
Most of the silverlight sites said I needed to install silverlight. :(
