No sound emission after the update (LM13)

Hi all,
yesterday I did 2 things: I updated my Linux (with update manager) and i tried to update Java. After this updates it doesn't produces any sounds. I mean all the applications, all the videos, all the games don't have any sound effect.
Is it normal? How can I fix the problem?
