Very low microphone input level

Hello,
I have a very low input level when I use the microphone, even when I set the input level at more than 100%. I noticed it's especially sensitive with skype because it doesn´t allow the level to be more than 100%.
I had the same problem under ubuntu 12.10 on the same computer. I tried with a live puppy linux distrib and it was sounding better. My computer is a h8530w with mint 14 Cinnamon.
