Keeing The Screen Saver Disabled While Watching Videos?

When I watch videos, either on the PC or streaming, periodically the screen will start fading out untill I hit the space bar. Is there a setting somewhere that will tell Linux or the monitor not to fade out while a video is playing?

Thanks.

Usually it will be a system wide setting, disable screensaver while some action, but I don't know if video playback is one of the actions available..
--however, a click to disable the screenaver is possible, without going through the setup screens (screensaver !)

--an applet for cinnamon it does that..
