VLC + MPlayer Codecs?

Postby Andy Mack on Sun May 25, 2008 11:29 am

Is it possible for VLC to use some MPlayer codecs specifically real and quicktime?

VLC won't use the system codecs like Mplayer does, it uses it's own. Your system codecs are in /usr/lib/codecs. Mplayer will use codecs from this directory if it doesn't have a native one. It might be possible to copy the missing VLC plugins from another directory to the VLC plugin directory, but I'm not sure if it will use them.

Guys... is anyone else having problems watching .wmv videos on mplayer? they look all weak and pixelated (if thats a word..) but u get the picture.

i tried to take a screen picture, with prnt screen.. but all i got was a blue screen where the video was playing.

anyhow... do u know of any improvements for mplayer that makes it better suited to playing wmv files?

or... what else, other than vlc, is there?

when is GOM player releasing their linux version? :(

is Divx releasing a linux version anytime soon?

cheers fellow brethren
