Mp3 Conversion

Postby WeeEdd on Sat May 31, 2008 5:11 am

I know this is going to seem very stupid but I am having problems having tracks converted to MP3 format when they are ripped from the CD. I have tried several programs, including Banshee, Amorak and Sound Juicer, but the tracks are converted to .ogg. Any suggestions as to how to get them to MP3 would be appreciated. I have gone through a large part of the Forum but have not found any questions about this problem
Many thanks

Currently, I am testing Rhythmbox, which is the default player in Mint 5. Other players should be similar. In Rhythmbox, the Edit > Preferences > Music > Preferred format settings are what you need to adjust. From there, one can choose AAC, FLAC, Ogg, MP3, WAV, and Speex. Perhaps that will point you in the right direction for one of the music players you are using. Good luck.

Many thanks. I am sure I shall get something sorted out. I could get MP3 up in the configuration of RhythmBox but it still insisted on ripping to ogg.
