<SOLVED>YouTube: "An error occurred, please try again later"

Postby pommes on Tue Jan 21, 2014 6:57 am

Hi there,

I've posted this on the German Mint-forum, but as of right now, there's no solution:
Since today I have a problem playing YouTube-Videos. The YT-site itself loads, but some videos won't start, sometimes just staying black, sometimes saying "An error occurred, please try again later" after a few seconds.
What puzzles me is the fact, that there's no pattern: Some videos play just fine, and when I reload the page, they don't. Sometimes the advertising-clip before the actual video plays, but the video itself does not. And sometimes the video stops after a few seconds.
Since this happens a) with every video and not only proprietary content (music) and b) doesn't happen to other Mint-users I've asked, the problem seems to be somewhere in my system rather than the YT-servers.
Note: I de-installed the Mint-flashplugin and changed to the multiverse flashplugin-installer, but that didn't cause any improvement.

Mint version: Nadia 14
Desktop: Cinnamon
Kernel: 3.5.0-45-generic

Any idea?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There's nothing weird to see in your output, so I started searching the internet and found this on this forum. Maybe this might solve your problem.

Seems it was the hardware acceleration. Turned it off and now everything seems to work fine. Thanks!
