Will Audigy 5.1 surround sound work in Bianca ?

I have Audigy ZS2 5.1 surround sound card using emu10k alsa drivers. I set the sound up using the Alsa Multi-channel Audio mini-HOWTO that I found via Google.
I am getting 2 channel stereo after following all of the instructions. Has anyone
gotten 5.1 to work yet and how did you manage it ?

I think I should expand on what I have done so far. Alsa mixer seems to be set up correctly, although I don't remember if lfe should be on or off. I tried alsacfg and alsaconf which got a no such command answer. The speaker test gives me all 6 channels
speaker-test -c 6 -D surround51
also have set up mplayer for 5.1 in options and still only 2 channel sound.

I've got a Audigy 2 ZS connected to Creative speakers and everything is working fine. The only thing I had to do is to tune the volume levels on alsamixer. No additional configuration needed. Be sure to check that you haven't got anything muted. I'm using audacious as the default music player and Kaffeine as movie player, but surround sound works in totem too.

In Volume Control six all six channels can enable. when enabled, all speakers play the sound. But it seems it isn't affecting the amount of sound coming out. It automatically balance the sound between 6 channels. i just wanted to boost the middle range sounds. but i think it didn't happen actually. any idea?
