SOLVED Weird HP keyboard sound keys

It was told to post my problem here in case some HP people knew about a specific HP problem. I developed a problem with my audio keys on my HP DV6 a few days ago after an update. I can adjust sound using screen icons just not the keyboard keys. Here's the info that was suggested and some from other posts.

I've tried xinput test 9 and only a few keys 'esc' show anything. The rest just 'blink' the flashing black prompt box.

If any other info would be helpful let me know. Thanks for any help as always

I don't know what happened but the sound keys work today.
