somethings have sound, some don't

Postby JakeK23 on Wed Sep 03, 2008 1:05 am

Hey guys. I just installed Linux Mint 5 today and I have to say its my favorite distro so far. One of my only problems is with my sound. Some things play sounds fine and some don't at all. Pidgin and Rythmbox both play sound, while Amarok, VLC, totem, and the system sounds don't play. So far, those are the only programs I have tried. Oh, youtube videos in Firefox also are sound-less. I have a SoundBlaster 5.1 sound card. My motherboard does have integrated sound but I wouldn't think that would be a problem is some programs are able to produce sound. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Well, got it working. It was the onboard sound after all.
