Elyssa and Video problem

Postby sjewins on Mon Oct 06, 2008 5:46 am

Just installed Elyssa. Looks real fine. I am impressed enough to seriously consider making it my main distro.

I have only two issues so far.

One, how can I get it to adjust the volume when I press the volume up/down on my HP keyboard? KDE and GNOME and Dreamlinux (XFCE) all recognized the button presses with no effort on my part.

Two, I love SMPlayer as a wrapper for MPlayer (especially how it remembers a video's position if you stop part way through) but when I play an AVI file the video is just bright green lines (vertical) and the sound starts and stops very choppy. The system almost locks up during each silent part of the chop (mouse freezes) like serious CPU busy.

Any suggestions as to where to start looking for solutions to these?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I believe I can answer your first question,
For multimedia keys go to MintMenu->Preferences->Keyboard shortcuts
