Video codec '0x0' is not handled in totem

Postby klemperal on Tue Nov 04, 2008 1:46 am

I have gotten this error a couple times when I've tried to play downloaded flash videos. I searched synaptic for 0x0 codec but didn't find anything. Any ideas on how to fix this? Will it maybe be pre-installed in Mint 6?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I do not know why that codec is not pre-installed, but VLC handles flash perfectly right after install. If you don't want to use VLC, then I have no suggestions for you. If you do however, it is as easy as entering this code into terminal.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install vlc

then enter your password and you're done.

I would rather not install another video player just yet. The thing is that flash videos have always worked for me in mint untill recently--I would double click on one and it would play with Totem. Out of no where I got the 0x0 error and now I can't play flash videos already downloaded that used to play just fine. Any other suggestions on how to fix this?
