K3b will not erase CD-RW

Postby elrodcarrera on Sun Nov 23, 2008 11:25 am

I am running Elyssa KDE and have K3b version 1.0.4 installed. I am having problems erasing CD-RWs. I have a Toshiba DVD/RW and I am using Memorex CD-RW media. I am able to burn the CD-RW but when I try to erase using K3b it fails. I get the following "debugging Output":

Does any of this make sense? I am a newbie w/ limited computer skills with an appetite to learn. I have searched several forums without much success and any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to become completely independent of Windows and have really enjoyed my experience w/ Linux Mint. :D
Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you have a DVD recorder/player, try using that to blank the disc. It works for dvds so it may well work for cds too. Also try using Brasero instead; it's a bit less cantankerous than K3b.

The thing with such an output is that it is way too much - but still way better than nothing
I see that blanking is set to fast - my experience from Brasero is that it takes a h-ll of a lot longer when that is enabled and sometimes no success. May be the same with k3b
