Mint 17 htpc help with remote.

Post by vl1969 »

Hi, have been running mint 17 setup as my htpc. Have Logitech wireless keyboard. But I am planning to rebuild with 17.1 and hope to add a remote control. Can some one sugest a good remote that will work with linux and explain how to set it up properly, might also want to add xbmc to the mix later.

I am using Mint 17.1 and sometimes load KODI (successor to XMBC). I just use my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo. Runs the system from across the room just fine. The Mouse model is M215; keyboard is K360. They came as a set. No need to fuss with yet another remote control IMHO. Good luck! MrBob22

Well I use Logitech wireless keyboard with TouchPad. But when I will load xbmc (kody) I would like to have a remote option for the waf effect.

Oh, I dont know what a waf effect is....
Anyway, if you mouse around the net, you should find many options for remotes, and at least one of them should work ok with your set up and Linux. Good Luck! MrBob22
ps I would look around the KODI area and see if people describe their home theater set ups and yak about remotes...
