DVB-T Card

Postby dajs on Thu Nov 27, 2008 11:19 am

Hello,

My DVB-T Card does not work and is not detected at all! It is a WinTV Nova USB stick.

I wouldn't find it too weird but it works out of the box with ubuntu, xubuntu, kubuntu, mepis and some other distros (all I have tried).

Any idea what I could do?

I installed DVB stuff with Synaptic.

ps. using Kaffeine

dmesg | grep dvb/ gives me nothing

lsusb/ gives me: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 2040:7070 Hauppauge

i use this firmware: dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw
and it is in my lib/firmware!
but still it does not work

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Ok good, your lsusb output means the hardware is connected ok. Next issue this to the terminal after plugging in the card:

dmesg

this will let you know what the kernel modules are doing, and tell you if dvb is working. We can work from there!

Hello,
thanx for the help

I have gotten it to work yesterday evening. I have tried tons of stuff, installing reinstalling stuff.

what worked:
So I installed the v4l using this link: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/v4l-dvb (I did have the one installed from Synpatic in my Mint but it did not work)
And now it works. Seems to be that Ubuntu 8.04 has newer V4L version installed than Mint (just guessing I did not check).
