Lack of Codec Options in WinFF

Postby Wildfire on Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:28 pm

This is my first post in the forums, just wanted to say as a "novice" (emphasis on the novice here LOL) user of Linux I've really enjoyed Linux Mint so far. Here's my problem: I managed to install ffmpeg, WinFF, and basically any and all other repo's I thought I needed to be an encoding fool (i.e., Medibuntu) but I'm apparently missing something. I want to re encode .h264 files through WinFF, for example, but I don't even see the .h264 codecs listed, let alone Xvid (or many others for example.) Can somebody point me in the right direction as to what I'm missing? Did I miss a repo that has all my codecs I'd want?

Thanks for the help

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The codecs are there, it just seems like WinFF doesn't recognized them; or it could be that you need to edit a config file with how WinFF should pass the parameters to the encoder codec. Anyway, its mostly a thing with WinFF not exactally a linux mint only thing as I'm assuming you got them from the ubuntu repository?
