Hauppage HVR-1250 card and no sound through TV Time

Post by Daibhi »

I'm running Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca Mate edition fully up with the Cinnamon desktop add on. My system has a Hauppage HVR-1250 TV card installed. I'm using TVTime as my player but am getting no sound. I've tried some code strips that I have found through various forums but nothing seems to work right now. I had previously that same setup before a crash and had the code saved in what I thought was a safe place. Suffice it to say that if I can ever get a code clip that works, I'll print it and laminate the sucker. So my question is, using the arecord command, what strip can I apply in terminal to get my sound back? TIA!

A quick search of "ubuntu 14.04 Hauppage HVR-1250" gave a bunch of things for old ubuntu releases and this for 14.04:

https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php? ... 4897c59da1

which is from the mythtv forums but I doubt it's be any different.

I''m not saying that's the best link ... try searching yourself. I always preface a support search for mint with ubuntu. I'm actually an ex ubuntu user at this point but they have an enormous user base and the best support for non experts. But I think the mint releases themselves are better for novices ... go figure.

I have 2 hvr-1250 tuner cards installed, I didn't need any special modification to get sound to play from them. I presume you get audio from other applications.

Have you tried watching tv through a different application? My preferred tv program is me-tv, it's a small and fairly simple (although you need a channel.conf file) to help eliminate or confirm one issue.

good luck
