Flash is burning my CPU

Postby alkastan on Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:11 am

Hi

I have flash10 installed on my laptop ASUS F5N with linux mint elyssa.
Everything works great great great, (I tried more than 20 versions of linux and Linux mint is the best after some tweaks as sound model= lenovo, nvidia driver and.... modifying HDparm to avoid hard disk to be destroyed after 3 months..... (operation common to most of linux os for my laptop, not specific to linux mint))

Except.. this flash... it is working, yes, but cpu runs so fast.... not good, I tried to unistall libflashsupport as I saw on some forums, some significant improvement are seen but still, for some flash it s awfull, (not necessarily youtube, newspaper web site for example).
It s really ugly for me cause it sometimes blocks my pc as a kernel panic (for example flash application opened, I open system monitor and... FREEZE!)

Is there any solution for this pb?

Thanks in Advance!

Adrien

Haven't seen reports that it is so bad before, but it is a problem (and in Windows to mind you)
Can you look at the logs and see if there is something to enlighten us - can't tell what but anything related to flash and/or Firefox
Logs are available in the System log tool

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

can you say me which command do I have to write in the terminal?
I wanted to attach picture of HTOP, but size of image is too big for the forum.

Hi

Maybe one solution:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... ash&page=5
So I downgraded the flashplugin to version 9 and then installed adobeflashplugin (via synaptic)

from this time, no appearance of npviewer.bin and flash seems working better!

Keep u informed if it will be stable
