No sound when mint 6 installed

I have installed linux mint for the first time.
I use the on-board sound card.
My M/B is P5 ASUS P5GD2 DELUXE (i915, s775)

Does anyone know what could I do to solve it?
You understand that it's too important for me.

If it is ICH8 or perhaps most ICH this may be a solution

Of course you should use model=asus instead of model=acer
Please always include the output of lspci for hardware related questions

and model=asus
At the bottom of that post is a link to the big sound troubleshooter in the Ubuntu forums
But of course check all your settings for sound - double click the volume applet next to the clock and check in Preferences that you have enough tracks visible and not muted
