Sound system used in Felicia

Postby crebralfix on Tue Feb 03, 2009 2:55 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how sound is handled in Linux Mint 6. There seem to be quite a few applications that work together to run the sound system. I'd like to get an overall view of the layout with the relationships SPECIFIC TO LINUX MINT. Is there such a document?

When I do a ps, I see quite a few processes running and I have no idea what they do (much less if they're remotely related to sound):

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You write Felicia but Mint 5 which is Elyssa :)
With Elyssa pulse audio was introduced, but alsa and oss still works
To get a grip on sound do
Code: Select all
lsmod | grep snd

and you should get all modules connected to sound

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
