WAV files cut off

Postby Beau on Thu Feb 26, 2009 8:48 am

I have downloaded and installed all the codecs that I think I could find.
WAV files cut off before finishing in Totem movie player.
Don't play in VLC media player
Video and MP3 work fine. Mint 6. Thanks.

All wave files? Why is the problem at the end of the file. Is it consistently at the end (time).

Yes, towards the end of every wave file it cuts off. Same whether it is downloaded or played online. I have "Install Mint Codecs". I'm not sure if other sound files have the same problem as I haven't tried them, but videos are okay.

Another problem is not enough sound volume for everything. I have the tray slider and Pulse Audio maxed out

In terminal lspci shows this driver:
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

Try increasing your PCM volume.
I would be suspect of your ripping program. For example, if you are taking a CD to WAV program, sometimes you'd need to extract 2 seconds extra, because the precision of starting and ending points are't as exact.

If it plays wrong in VLC i would suspect it has very little to do with CODECs.

The .wav files are downloaded ones or attached to e-mails and play properly in Windows.

I don't recgonise your problem. Have you tried switching to ALSA instead of pulse audio

Yes, I have gone down the audio list with the same results.
