HDMI Out On my notebook

Postby pcolangelo_73 on Sun Apr 19, 2009 1:14 pm

Hello Mint Community,
I dint know if this is the right section to post this but,
I have mint all set up on my HP G60-238CA Laptop. It took a while for the WiFi but its all set up.
Now i have been tryiing to use my TV as a seccond monitor for DVDs and Movies... I have HDMI out on my laptop, but it doesn not work "out of the box" on Mint.
I have Windows Vista on my PC also (Dual Boot) and it works great... just plug and play...
I have searched the Mint fourms for help on this topic with no luck.
I hope someone can help.

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It may be a little bit tricky, but the main thing to know is that DVI has the same signal as HDMI so it should work
The problem is sound
But you have to tell us more facts.
The minimum is exactly which Mint you have - which version and which edition (main or any of the CEs)
We also need to know a bit about all your hardware.
Run " lspci " in a terminal and post here (to avoid misunderstanding - the first character is a minor L and you copy by marking with the mouse and then right click)
Some wifi and possibly built in sound can be connected to USB even if they are internal - if you suspect you have one of these run " lsusb " in a terminal.
Also tell us if this is using mint4win or not, quite important

I need more detailed info
Run
Code: Select all
lspci -vvnn

This way I get the bus IDs
Post the two sections for graphics - a line is now expanded so it's an entire section
