KINO (GLORIA): "Invalid value '1' for option 'mv4'" error

Postby Giby on Fri May 22, 2009 5:25 am

Hello everybody, hello sages and savants

I was very impressed by LinuxMint and Gloria as I installed both for the first time yesterday.
Everything went quite easy and after the addition of a few more packages as needed for my
SOHO I encountered a first minor issue that I seem not to be able to solve without your help:

I can't get KINO (as enclosed in LinuxMint GLORIA) to export my DVrawFile neither
as XVID 1pass or 2pass nor as MPEG4 AVI 1pass or 2 pass. MPEG2 export went fine.

Here's what I get on the terminal window which I started KINO from:

I am happy to send other info/data if needed, yet before I send too much I wanted
(as a new LinuxMint GLORIA user) to keep the post small.

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I found this
I commented out hq="$hq -mv4 1" in ffmpeg_utils to make export works again.

when I googled for "Invalid value '1' for option 'mv4'" - first on the list
I don't know if that helps you but try it - you can always uncomment if it does not help

Hello (Mats?)

Thanks for answering my call. I had of course googled the
keywords too yet I do not recall finding that workaround.

I take it you are referencing to line 44 of the file
/usr/share/kino/scripts/exports/ffmpeg_utils.sh
in your suggestion. If that's right then your trick
does not work neither for my "XviD MPEG-4 AVI 2pass"
nor for "MPEG-4 MP4 2pass" or "MPEG-4 AVI 2pass".

I am not much - in fact not even little - of a programmer
and thus I fear that changing the content of the script or
omitting a line might influence the operation of the script
at least to not coding according to the options selected in
the Kino frontend.

Please comment and again thanks for your commitment

Hi again

I have just now installed a GetDebPackage (http://www.getdeb.net/download/3777/0)
of Kino 1.3.3-1 (32bit for Ubuntu Intrepid the link was called in my case) over my
Gloria's 1.3.0-2.1ubuntu4 (jaunty) and at least the XviD MPEG-4 AVI 2pass export is
now running to a new frontier. I hope someone can put this to the test as to determine
whether Kino 1.3.3-x should be integrated into Gloria or add a cautiously suggestive FAQ
entry.

Thanks and bye for now

this is just a hunch but as I noticed it is using ffmpeg try what I did in last part of my post viewtopic.php?f=48&t=24781#p153323, it seems to add more codecs to ffmpeg.

Worth a try? You can always put it back if it doesn't work...
