No sound at all

Hi all

Just installed Mint from live cd. Made sure everything was upto date before posting. I have no sound on startup/movies or internet. Basically sound is dead.

Play a music CD or an mp3 file, open a terminal, type "alsamixer" and play with the sliders and mute/unmute channels until you get sound. (use the "m" key to change the mutes. If none of that works post "lsmod" to this thread.

Thanks for the reply. I tried everything but still no sound. I ended up sticking a PCI soundblaster card in and it worked stright away :)
