Havin a party & need to output via digital coax: plz help!

Postby ron_jeremy on Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:30 am

I can't figure out how to output to my stereo via coax cable & need to get this resolved because I'm having a party tomorrow night & our music depends on getting this fixed -- please help!I I read somewhere that I could type aplay -l into console for audio info:

aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: M2496 [M Audio Audiophile 24/96], device 0: ICE1712 multi [ICE1712 multi]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Does this mean I have no option for the digital coax output on my M-Audio Audiophile 2496? I am trying to do it in Rhythmbox but am open to anything that will work at this point.
Cheers,

RJ

Ok weird I got it working by going into the volume properties / preferences & by ticking check boxes. Seems to be working but it also output to my computer speaker at the same time -- this is ok because I just turn them off but it is strange how it's outputting analog & digital simultaneously. Maybe I'm just used to Windoze?
Cheers,

Glad you got things working!!! I have the same soundcard - doesn't it sound good???? As for the computer speakers, they are probably using your motherboards onboard soundcard.

Have a great party tonight, which if you're in the same timezone as me is probably in full swing!!!!
