DVD backups too compressed?

Post by gman »

I trying to backup my kids DVD's using K9copy and DVD95. The DVD95 ISO's always end up under 700MB and the playback is choppy. K9copy shrinks to about 1.3 GB, the playback is better, but the video becomes pixelated at times.

I have tried various settings but can't seem to get the compression to closer to the 4.7 GB range where pixels would be eliminated and I can get a decent backup.

If anyone can shed some light on this it is greatly appreciated.

DVDshrink

Post by idiotkiwi »

I was following this thread yesterday. On looking there is now a Linux version of DVDshrink on Automatix.

At least there was! I downloaded but cannot see it there today..

Does Automatix remove the name of a program once downloaded to a particular machine??

You should be able to run it in the terminal.

There does not appear to be a linux version.

Automatix may just have installed wine as a dependency and then installed dvdshrink to wine.

Just a big automated process.

DVDshrink for Linux

Hi Boo

Google XDVDshrink.

You are probably quite right. I'm too new to know the difference.

yep you are right idiotkiwi.

automatix installes/d XDVDshrink which is not DVDshrink.

dvdshrink.sourceforge.net
and
dvdshrink.org

just naming similarities.
