broken volume control on Linux Mint 7

Postby liquidstyle on Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:11 am

Hey Guys,

i have a problem with my Volume Control.
My Multimedia Keys on my Keyboard worked perfect since one day the Volume Buttons are no longer working.
It can't be a hardware defect, because Play/Pause is working als also the Volume Buttons are working, when i link them to another function, like starting a terminal etc.

I think it's a problem with pulseaudio and maybe it has something to do with my installation of sonbird 1.2, for which I removed the libvisual-4.0-plugins, so it worked.
Finally, I removed Songbird, and reinstalled the removed packages, but it seems that my problem is still there.
The Volume Display of libnotify just shows the percentage-bar of the volume control and ist blinking each time I'm pressing a Volume button.

So anyone has an idea to solve this problem?

P.S.: I hope it's not so hard to read my text, my english is not the best, sorry for that!

Sorry it is a bit hard to understand you but I think you have lost some Keyboard shortcuts
Open Keyboard shortcuts (in gnome control panel) and set volume up and down again and I think it will work

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
