Totem - incorrect aspect ratio

Postby astromodder on Wed Sep 02, 2009 1:50 am

After configuring Xorg for 3 monitors and enabling Xinerama whenever I play a video in Totem it appears it is reversing the aspect ratio (e.g. 3:4 instead of 4:3). The only way to get 4:3 videos to look right is to set the aspect ratio to 2.11:1, if the video is 16:9 theres no way to get it to look right with the settings in Totem.

I have deleted the .xine folder which made no difference. I have tried with both totem-xine and totem-gstreamer, no difference.

Is there any way to fix this while using Xinerama? I currently have ATI graphics cards however I am getting new nVidia cards later this week. I am only having the problem when I have all 3 monitors configured in Xorg, it worked fine with dual monitors before enabling the third.

Welcome to Mint
Jikes
That xorg.conf was way over my head :)
Is it autoconfigured by aticonfig?
If not you need to run
Code: Select all
sudo aticonfig --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf --tls=1

to update the amdpcsdb file which is the file where fglrx fetches its settings
It may explain some of the ATI problems in the forum and I actually learned this just recently - don't know why I did not see it before. This has been the rule for less than a year though

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
