Hi,
I have a SoundBlaster 5.1 Live! sound card and a microphone (which came with the webcam) attached to it. I have just installed Cassandra and there is one thing that is quite annoying: even before the login screen appears, I start hearing a lot of noise coming from the center speaker.
To make the noise disappear I have login, then open the "Volume Control" and then do either one of these:
- mute "AC97" in "Playback" tab.
- check "IEC95B Optical Raw" in "Switches" tab.
- uncheck "SB Live Analog/Digital Output jack" in "Switches" tab.
- turn off audio recording from "Capture" in "Recording" tab.
Some of these controls are not visible by default and have to be turned on in "Edit->Preferences".
What I would like to know is how to save this configuration and make the machine boot with it and make the noise go away.
I had Ubuntu and Kubuntu installed before and didn't have this problem. When I shutdown the machine the noise also goes away before the shutdown is completed.
If this is not the place to be asking this then could you please give me some directions?
Thank you very much
