System sounds...but no Youtube sounds

Post by Enialis »

Kind of an odd problem I have here. I just installed and updated Linux Mint (Gloria) yesterday. Everything's working perfectly fine, including sound. So i didn't really question anything until i went to youtube earlier to watch a video my friend sent me...and there wasn't any sound. In fact, there wasn't any sound on ANY videos.

I followed the guide by exploder, but I still can't get any audio on Flash vids.

Anyone have any ideas? Or even a starting point? =(

Turn the PCM volume up in the mixer.

You'll have to forgive me, Mark, I'm new to Linux, I had used it for a few weeks back when Mint 7 was first released but due to school I got dragged back into XP.

I can't seem to find the Kmix PCM Volume icon anywhere. Included is the screenshot of my Kmix Window and of the Kmix icon at the bottom right.

It should be in the settings in Configure Channels.

Put a check in PCM then make sure it's turned all the way up.

I'm not using Mint so I'm not exactly sure.

Under Configure Channels the only note says

Show/Hide________Split
IEC958

IEC958 has a checkmark next to it, theres nothing under the Split Column

Maybe it's different for you because you have an ATI chipset.

If you don't have any luck here you may want to try Ubuntu forums.

I noticed the hardware driver icon in the system tray in your screenshot.

Have you run that program yet?

Maybe there's a driver in there that will help you.

I'm just guessing now.
