Need codecs to burn movie DVD?

Post by vex390 »

I've been trying to burn movie dvd's but no matter what file type (VOB, WMV) I get errors. the dvd burner works fine on windows and it can read dvd's just fine with mplayer. i've googled codecs for linux and followed this tutorial ( http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-I ... 9555.shtml ) and at least brasero had problems. can someone recommend a program or a tut to get these videos to dvd? seeing as i've never succesfully burned a video to dvd with linux i don't really know the steps to trouble shooting.

DeVeDe should be able to create a dvd.iso, then burn the .iso file to dvd with Brasero.

thx for the suggestion but why can't brasero burn the video itself?

Because Brasero is a burning application, not a transcoding application.
